Who doesn't want to be able to see clearly and have sharp vision? In order to do so, though, it is important to take precautionary measures at home and work to protect your eyesight. Here are a few things that you can do to improve your eyesight.

Don't Stare at Your Phone All Day

It is incredibly easy to get caught up on your phone once you start scrolling through your social media apps or start playing your favorite game. However, if you spend too much time staring at your smartphone, you may find yourself with a constant headache, dry eyes, and blurred vision. These symptoms can easily be avoided, though, with the 20/20/20 rule. You just need to look away from the screen every 20 minutes and look at an object that is at least 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

Set Your Screen Up Right at Work

If your workday is spent on a computer all day, then it is imperative that your screen is properly set up. Otherwise, the constant squinting and staring that you do all day will contribute to eye muscle strain and soreness. Your computer screen monitor should be arranged so that it is roughly 20 to 24 inches from your face, and the brightness settings of the screen should be adjusted so that they aren't too dim or bright. Consider purchasing anti-glare screens or even eyeglasses to avoid a glare on the screen, especially if shades or blinds can't be used. In addition, you should also follow the aforementioned 20/20/20 rule.

Always Wear Sunglasses When Outside

UV rays are damaging to your eyes regardless of the season, so it is important to wear sunglasses during the summer as well as all other seasons. Glare from the sun, particularly during the winter when it is reflecting off of the snow, can harm your vision. If you have been diagnosed with an eye condition, you should consider purchasing prescription sunglasses as these will assist you with seeing better while reading, driving, and engaging in all kinds of outdoor activities.

Partake in Eye Exercises

To help maintain the strength and health of your eyes, give the muscles in your eyes a little bit of a workout. Near and far focus therapy, figure 8s, and even focus change activities are just a few of the exercises that you can do to help prevent the development of vision conditions.
